Search Sky (“we”, “the app”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what information is used when you use Search Sky on Android. We do not require an account to use the core app.

01

Information we use

  • Location (precise/approximate): Used on your device to calculate the positions of stars, planets, the Moon, satellites, the ISS, and nearby aircraft relative to your sky. Location is required for accurate AR sky mapping.
  • Camera: Used only to show the live AR overlay. We do not upload your camera feed to our servers.
  • Internet access: Used to fetch public astronomy and aviation data (for example satellite orbit data, aircraft positions, NASA daily content) and to show ads.
  • Notifications (optional): If you enable reminders, the app may schedule local notifications (for example sky facts or pass reminders).
  • Device advertising ID: Used by Google AdMob to show and measure ads.
02

Data storage

Most app data (favorites, trophies, journal notes, quiz progress, settings) is stored locally on your device. We do not require you to create an account.

03

Third-party services

The app may communicate with third-party services to provide features and ads, including but not limited to:

  • Google AdMob / Google Play services (advertising)
  • Public astronomy & space data providers (for example NASA APIs, satellite TLE sources)
  • Public aircraft data sources (for example OpenSky Network)

These services have their own privacy policies.

04

Children

Search Sky is a general-audience education/lifestyle app. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children for the purpose of building profiles. Ads are served by Google AdMob under Google’s policies.

05

Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. Data may be processed by advertising and infrastructure providers as described above. When you use the system share sheet, you choose what to share with other apps.

06

Your choices

  • You can deny camera, location, or notification permissions in Android Settings (some features will be limited).
  • You can reset advertising ID or limit ad tracking in Android settings.
  • Uninstalling Search Sky removes locally stored app data from your device.
07

Security

We use reasonable measures appropriate for a mobile app. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

08

Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy. The effective date above will change when we do.
